Research Interests:

  • Continuous Infusion of Low Dose Iohexol (CILDI) to measure GFR
  • AKI risk stratification model (urine microscopy + albumin, history + physiological parameters)
  • AKI biomarker: symmetrical dimethylarginine (SDMA) – variability in steady states and AKI defined
  • Clinical trial, using probe drugs to determine effects of AKI and CVVHF on drug metabolism by hepatic cytochrome P450 enzymes (completing)
  • Laboratory investigations in human hepatocytes of mechanisms underpinning the change in cytochrome function in AKI (underway)
  • Further clinical trial investigating antibiotic metabolism in AKI (planning)

Key Techniques:

  • Measurement and risk stratification of AKI
  • Effect of Acute Kidney Injury on Hepatic Function
